IM to Mobile
Use AIM® to Send a Message to a Mobile Number
IM a Phone Number Like it's a Screen Name
Do you know your friend's mobile number? Start a new IM session and instead of entering their screen name, enter in their U.S. cell phone number with a "+1" in front for the country code. Example: "+15551112222" is all you would have to enter for phone number 555-111-2222. The IM you send will turn into a text message.
Add Phone Numbers to Your Buddy List
Give yourself a short cut for the next time you IM to the same mobile number. Add phone numbers like "+15551112222" to your Buddy List and the next time you use IM to Mobile Phone Number, it will be as easy as sending an IM to any other buddies on your list.
Give Nicknames to Mobile Numbers on Your Buddy List
You can give each mobile number on your AIM® Buddy List a nickname to display who the number belongs to. Just edit the buddy and fill in the nickname field.
