Need to IM a buddy that is out and about? Send anyone a text message as if you were sending an IM, right now from AIM® or your AOL® Buddy List®.

IM a Phone Number Like it's a Screen Name
Do you know your friend's mobile number? Start a new IM session and instead of entering their screen name, enter in their U.S. cell phone number with a "+1" in front for the country code. Example: "+15551112222" is all you would have to enter for phone number 555-111-2222. The IM you send will turn into a text message.

Add Phone Numbers to Your Buddy List
Give yourself a short cut for the next time you IM to the same mobile number. Add phone numbers like "+15551112222" to your Buddy List and the next time you use IM to Mobile Phone Number, it will be as easy as sending an IM to any other buddies on your list. If you are using AIM 6.5 or higher, make sure you enter the mobile number in the Screen Name field when adding.

Give Nicknames to Mobile Numbers on Your Buddy List
You can give each mobile number on your AIM® Buddy List a nickname to display who the number belongs to. Just edit the buddy and fill in the nickname field.

Manage Who Can IM Your Mobile Phone Number
You have control over the ability for others to send a text message to your mobile phone number from AIM®. In your Mobile settings, follow these easy steps:

1. Click the "Edit" button for "IM to Mobile"
2. Check or uncheck the setting "Mobile Number: Allow AIM/AOL users who have my mobile number to send IMs to my phone."
3. Check to turn ON and allow text messages to your number, uncheck to turn OFF

On Your Phone Using Text Messages to 265019
You can also change your IM to Mobile settings using text messages right from your phone. Text any of the following commands to 265019:
'a' Accept all text message IMs from the specified sender
'd' Decline all text message IMs from the specified sender
'on' Allow all text message IMs from any sender
'off' Block all text message IMs from any sender
'ask' Ask Me to accept or decline each new sender
'block screenname' Block all text messages from a specific sender
'unblock screenname' Unblock a previously blocked sender
'help' List of commonly used IM to Mobile setting commands

How to Reset Your Mobile Number with AOL®/AIM®
Just bought a new mobile phone or receive a new mobile phone number? If you need to reset your mobile number with AOL/AIM, just send a blank text message to 265022 from your mobile phone. This will reset your mobile number in our systems and allow you to register for AOL Mobile services under your Screen Name.
