LMFAO: Laughing my f***ing a** off
ROFLMFAO: Rolling on floor laughing my f***ing a** off
Of course.
ATM: At the moment

I don't really use many of them though.

What a bunch of illiterate losers, texting abbreviations. In case the term "illiterate" is unfamiliar -- refer to the dictionary, you know, that big book with lots of words.

Such a dumbass o.O... The article clearly explains why we use abbreviations in our texts.
1.A lot of people have a limited amount of characters allowed in one text message.
2.Abbreviations are easier and quicker.
3.Texting and Instant Messaging are in no way concerned with the business or school world, so being 'illiterate'[by your definition] is allowed.
If people used these abbreviations in essays or resumes, then I'd partially agree with you; partially - because your definition of illiteracy is wrong ;].

Well personally I feel that it just depends on the situation. Albeit most people in the United States have grammar and vocabulary issues. Some of us don't. I text in both ways. With abbreviations, when I know certain people will only be able to fit a certain amount of characters, basically people without Verizon. So yes I will say idk bt wen r we gng 2 the prk. O g2g ttyl. Lmao no way rofl. But In some cases, a lot of the time I will text in the normal message way. Just depends on the person, situation, skill level, and what they feel like doing. So don't be hatin' : ) And to ever doesn't know that illiterate means incapable of reading or writing. And to you Mr. Joe. You abbreviate whenever you say Dr. Mrs. Ms. Mr. P.o. Box. And such.... so just to clarify things. And I'm 17 : )
